Sometimes I forget…

Sometimes I forget that I don’t need to right all the wrongs in my world by myself.

We don’t need to worry about how things might play out. God has gone before us and is with us, even in the storms.

We don’t need to plot, plan, and perform solutions without His guidance. When we depend on Him and follow His voice, we will see Him working for our good.

We can trust Him, His ways, His purpose for my life, even in a broken world…especially in a broken world.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.”  Proverbs 3:5 (ESV)

Sometimes I forget everyone’s journey looks different.

Our learning, our gifts, and our struggles do not match those we care about.  God has a path and a purpose that was designed just for each of us.

His grace is chasing all of us, and sometimes we just need to get out of the way.

God loves that other person too. If we are living and loving like Jesus, we will love that other person as well.

“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”  Romans 8:28 (ESV)

Sometimes I forget to be still and listen to His voice.

Instead of following the ways of the world, our attention should be focused on seeking more of Him. We can’t do both.

We don’t have to have all the answers; truth and guidance for our lives are found in His word.

Our peace is found in Him only. If we depend on ourselves when we feel anxious or become impatient, we will miss out on His goodness.

“You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.”  Isaiah 26:3 (ESV)

Sometimes I forget it’s not about me.

He does not love us because of who we are; it’s all because of who He is.

We are to follow His purpose for our lives, not convince Him to agree to our ideas. Our faith in Him is made stronger when we surrender to Him and His ways.

If we are not rooted, intentionally and passionately, in who He says we are, we will be led by the enemy into the lies within the darkness of the self-seeking world.

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”  Romans 12:2 (ESV)

When the noise of this world starts pulling me into so many directions, I sometimes need these reminders.  I am so grateful that He knows my every need and how He shows me that He is working in my life, drawing me closer and closer to Him.  I pray that you are encouraged by these reminders today as well.  Or has He put something else on your heart to show you His faithfulness, His grace, or His love lately?  Share some of your reminders with me!!

And, may you experience God’s favor along the way.
