May is the month of all the stuff.

End of the school year and beginning of spring sports.

Field trips and finals and festivals.

Derby Day and Mother’s Day.

Graduations, awards, recitals, and proms.

Summer activity sign-ups and college kids coming home.

Spring showers, sunshine, and rainbows.

Then we squeeze in all the other celebrations…

Birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, and retirements.

We all experience some of this; some of us experience all of this.

We enjoy the special moments, celebrate the special people: it’s all great.

Until it’s not. We snap. That attitude. The harsh words. All the responsibility. The thing we forgot. We’re double-booked, exhausted, and irritated. It’s all just too much.  We try to do it all with too little time and even less energy, which results in short tempers, hurt feelings, and lots of guilt.

Before we know it, we are grouchy and grumpy.  We say and do things we regret. We have every intention to be happy and enjoy all the things, but the more we try, the more we struggle.

We want to get back to living in the excitement, experiencing the joy, loving life, but we’re not sure we can.  After all, there’s still a lot of May left…..

Been there?  Are you there now?  If your answer is yes, let me remind you of some of God’s promises when May, the month of all the stuff, leaves you feeling this way.

Tired?

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Matthew 11:28-29

Grouchy?

“Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.” Proverbs 4:23

Worried about getting it all done?

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”  Philippians 4:6-7

Trying to keep up with everyone else?

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” Romans 12:2

Stressed?

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you, I do not give to you as the world gives.  Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”   John 14:27

When we rely on God and His Word, May can be the month we enjoy all the blessings God has in store for us.  May can be the month we see all His goodness in all the things.

May can be the month of all the stuff.

Joy and Peace and Love

Grace and Mercy

Anticipation, Excitement, and Dreams

Gratitude and Appreciation

We can walk in the beauty of the day to day, trusting that God is walking right beside us.  My hope is that you can cling to His promises and you can feel His presence guiding you through May, the month of all the stuff! And, that you are loving every minute and making amazing memories as well.
