In somebody’s eyes,

You are not enough

You might not work hard enough

You might not be smart enough

You might not be nice enough

You might not be rich enough

You might not be skinny enough

You might not be strong enough

In somebody’s eyes,

You are a lot

You might be too loud

You might be too assertive

You might be too shy

You might be too lazy

You might be too demanding

You might be too sensitive

In somebody’s eyes, you don’t measure up.  You do things differently. You might be judged, compared, evaluated, or criticized. You might be the subject of blame, complaints, disappointments, or gossip.

We have all been there.  The pain, the damage, the suffering might still be there.

But when we acknowledge who are in Christ, we can cling to the truths that He offers us in His Word.  Through His eyes.

In His eyes, we are His.

“Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his, we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.”  Psalm 100:3 (ESV)

In His eyes, we are not only enough, but we are perfect.

“I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.”  Psalm 139:14 (ESV)

In His eyes, we are validated.

“Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”   Romans 5:1 (ESV)

So, if you are feeling somebody’s eyes on you today, let this be a reminder that His eyes are what matter, His faithfulness is what is true, His love is what is sufficient. When we know who we are in Christ, we can let go of all worldly expectations that somebody’s eyes are seeking.  And, we can focus on Him, pursue His glory, and live in His goodness. Forevermore.

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”   Romans 12 :2 (ESV)
